Kumaranchira Bhagavathy Temple

Central Kerala has 19 important Bhadrakali temples; the most famous of them all is Kumaranchira temple of Karalam on the banks of the Karuvannur river. This river use to flow on the southern side of the temple but it changed its course so that now it is on the northern side. This temple is a typical Kavu so that it does not have the Panchaprakaras that authoritative texts prescribe but the deity is extremely powerful.
