Thy consecration of the temple was conducted by Sree Narayana Guru Swamikal in 1904. This is the ftrst temple of the backward classes to have a Golden Mast (Swarna Dhwajam). The temple as well as SDPY schools which is the 2nd largest school in the state are the two important institutions conducted by Sree Dharma Paripalana Yogam. SDP yogam is a social organisation founded under the auspicious guidance of Gurudevan and the same is indeed instrumental to the educational, social, cultural and economic upliftment of Ezhavas of this region. As the name denotes, this is a Siva temple where all the . relevant rituals of a Mahakshethram is being conducted under the spiritual control of a Kshethram Thanthri. The ten days long festival of the Kshethram which starts on Bharani Nakshathram during the month of Kumbha attracts thousands of devotees from various places, every year. The Kavadi Khoshayathra conducted on Pooya Mahotsava day is also a spectacular show. Cultural and entertainment programmes on festival days are being staged at two locations at temple ground and High school ground. Almost all renowned artists and masters have performed on these stages. The administration of the temple is under the Manager, Devaswom. The Manager Devaswom is one of the three Executives of the yogam selected by the members of the yogam in a democratic way and as per the by-law of the yogam. The President and Manager schools are other two executives. The overall administration of the yogam is controlled by the President, Managers and a council and General Committee. Members of the advisory board of schools and Devaswom as well as internal auditors are nominated by the elected body. The centenary celebration of the yogam is being conducted now with unique programmes. Sri Vellappally Natesan, the leader of the community inaugurated the family meet and it was the first programme of the celebration. A Gajapooja where 108 elephants were presented in ornamental attire with traditional percus sion did even attract the international media. Devotees who underwent vruthas strictly were allowed, for the first time in history, to participate in Kodi Archana as Pari karmis. Personality Development course conducted by Brahmachari Saigon Swamikal for the students, teachers and staff of the school, 'Sree Narayana Divya Prabhodanam and Dhyanam' conducted by Brahmasree Sathchidananda Swamikal were other two important spiritual programmes conducted in connection with the centenary celebration. Marriage of poor girls, construction and renovation of homes for the needy, educational aid for the deserving, 3 day long medical camp etc. were the important social services done in connection with the celebration. A full fledged English Medium on CBSE syllabus was also aquired by yogam as ever shining memory of the centenary celebration.
