The concept of Brahmacarya makes confusion among the men of wisdom as well as the lay people. There are so many definitions in the ancient texts about the concept of Brahmacarya. It is believed that, it is a vow of a man or a woman no to mingle with the other sex for sexual pleasures. When we measure the gods also, with this equipment of idea, there arise a gross problem of brahmacarya. Among hundreds of gods like Siva, Vishnu and Ganapati in the Hindu epics, some of them have spouses and some of them have even offsprings. One human being may feel that his family concept may be same to that of gods; though there is a confirmed belief that there may be some exceptions in this concept. The Lord Siva is with Parvathi and the Lord Vishnu is with Lakshmi. But our mind is reluctant to say that they are not having brahmacaritwa. Sri Rama had his wife Sita and two children named Lava and Kusa. But no one thinks that Sri Rama lived as a husband like the ordinary man. What is to say about Sri Krishna who had a number of wives and children but he was a sincere brahmachari. Some people may think why this discrepancy arise? The Gods and the rshis, though they were the preachers of spirituality and devoted voluntary avowed personalities, they had also led a family life. Is it only for the common people who is bound with this world to adhere to these principles? But the answer is simple. The deviated and misunderstood spiritual aspects which are created by the singularities of this time. (kalikala) is the reason for such kind of thinking. If this doubt is cleared the doctrines will also be apparent. In ancient times, there had been four asramas (restricted and ordained life system which is adhered to in a life span, which had been considered as wordly orders) they are Brahmacarya, Garhastya, Vanaprasta and Sanyasa. The safety of the worldly creations and the thirst for realization of God is the reason behind this. It is the god who is the creator of this universe who himself ordained this laws. The Gruhastasrama is established for achieving the worldly pleasures and durability of life. The Sanyasa is for the spiritual welfare after the death. The Brahmacarya is preparatory period before the Gruhasta and the Vanaprasta is also the same period before the Sanyasa. The man who believes that this world is true, he can depend the asrama of Garhastya, these four asramas are established for all the categories of people. The solitary one God, the reason for this universe, its protector and it was he who created all the philosophies and laws, and he himself made us understand that he lived according to those principles. If the orders are there and the orderer is not adhered to them, all the philosophies and laws become impracticable. Therefore, the Lord Saccinmaya who had himself adhered to the principles which he had declared. He had been a brahmachari as well as a god who led a life as a Gruhasta. On other day he incarnated as a Vanaprasti, or a Sanyasi like A man can act on only one aspect at a time, but the gods can act on many. This is the result of Yogasakti in the gods. Which differs man from gods. Since having this power the god becomes God. All the incarnations are the one and the same God. The man has to rise himself to the state of god. Sankara and Narayana try to emancipate the ordinary man, the Garhastya, who is running after food, family and relatives. They incarnated themselves to teach this lesson. Both of them have descended as Hariharaputra the brahmachari who has renunciated all the worldly pleasures and declares that the brahmacharitwa is not world consuming, but Yoganishta. There are also some extraordinary sexual relations of Gods, like Siva – Vishnu relation for the birth of Ayyappa. Saiva – Vayu relation for the birth of Hanuman and Siva – Sakti relation with six Kruttikas for the birth of Karthikeyan. All the stories are related to spiritual truths.
