On the Thiruvananthapuram - Shastamangala - Vettiyoor route is Marutharnkuzhi, where Bhadrakali is the main deity. This idol has four hands (Chathurbahu) which holds 'Shanku, Chakram, Sword, Shulam' etc. People believe that the deity has both the Bhavas and is in the form of Mahamaya. Inside the Seekovil there are 3 'peedams' they represent the 'Sapta Matrukas' - Indrani, Vaishnavi, Varahi. the dieties face the North.
